Alnwick castle & garden
Alnwick is the place where the Harry Porter movie was filmed. It is not very far from the Newcastle and the journey takes less than 2 hours by bus (ticket only costs £5.70 for return). There is also a train that can take you there but you still have to take bus to get to the Alnwick town.
Before that, I was considering few options to go to Alnwick. I thought I can use the broomstick to fly there just like in the movie. So, I get the broom in my house and cast some spell on it, hoping it would fly. Alabama Alabama….but nothing happen. Damn. Then I spelled like in the video clip below but also useless. I felt like stupid.
I was lucky though that the weather wasn’t extremely hot when I went there. The wind still blowing like normal and it was exactly the right cool but a bit moody.
The entry fee for both Alnwick Garden and the Castle is £11.95 respectively (adult) and £9.95 for concession. However, if you buy both tickets, it will be £17.50 (adult) and £15.50 (concession).
Unfortunately, I am not allowed to take any photo while I’m in the castle. The interior design is fabulous and I wish I can live in castle like this one. It is a family home castle and behind the stark and foreboding walls lie the lavish State Rooms (the place with a long dining table).
There’s so much to explorer at the Alnwick Garden. The Alnwick Garden is the exciting part. It is a wonderful garden and has one of the world’s largest wooden tree houses.
As well as being a garden with a unique and contemporary structural design, the garden is planted with a huge variety of trees and plants.
The Ornamental Garden has the largest collection of European plants in the UK, with quite places to sit and catch the sun. Of course it is incomparable to Amsterdam’s Keukenhof Garden.
The Treehouse is built from Canadian cedar, Scandinavian redwood and English and Scots pine, from sustainable resources. So you don’t need to worry it will collapsed while you are in there.
There are walkways in the sky, rope bridges, great views and a fantastic place to eat. I wish I can live there as it is so peaceful and natural-like.
