how to spend

September 27, 2009 3 comments

We must be able to earn enough money, spend it accordingly and save for the future need.

Never be the money’s slave.

When it comes to earning money, there is no wrong of earning a lot of money, working hard for it. However, make sure you able to spend it to satisfy yourself, to live to fullness.

We only live once, we won’t be able to bring the money along when we die.

Of course, just in case, we still need to save some up for future needs.

And so sien working life, so much to learn, sigh….

Think this is what life about. We learn, we made mistake, but we continue growing…..

Surprise Surprise

Oh ya, the picture isn’t to confuse you. It’s not that you can have internet wireless access when you view this post. So don’t be mad when you couldn’t find any wireless signal. Hehe….

OK….Before I came back to Malaysia, I have this preconceive that I won’t be able to access to internet connection for quite a period. Surprisingly, I didn’t and here I am, adding more meaningless post to this blog.

In UK, they have access to wireless almost at everywhere you go. Of course la, not those kampung place. Places like restaurants, hotels, KFC, McDonald, Starbuck , and etc. are well-equipped with wireless router for easy access to the internet by the people.

Now in Malaysia, we also have wireless access available to the public at everywhere. Even in Sibu and Kuching where you have free wireless connection at main cafe.

Also, the Celcom 3G seems to be faster than the Hutchison 3G in UK. Well, that’s what I feel as I only had been using 3 to have internet access. I’m not sure about O2 and other network.

Wait, not only the wireless connection made me surprise, but also the fact that Kuching new shopping mall, the Spring also has 3D cinema. Now people can watch 3D movies like G-Force, Ice Age 3 and etc in Kuching. I was worry that I won’t be able to watch any movie in 3D at the cinema. Now I don’t have to.

However the google map for Kuching city is still outdated. Perhaps, in the next few months or years we will be able to use GPS in Malaysia. Yaya….I know we don’t have to rely on GPS here in Kuching la but still it makes good impression if it does. Right?

busy schedule

Coming back to Malaysia is not an easy decision to make, not to mentioned have to apply for the job in the hospital.

Unlike in UK, Visa and Work Permit are the things you need to sort out apart from moving house (if you do), looking for job and etc.

Here in Malaysia, things aren’t as easy as in UK where Internet can be the medium of interaction.

First, I need to send an application form for the exemption of provisional service and have to wait for the slow and late reply from the government. Before that, I need to get a Letter of Good Standing from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain which takes approximately 2 weeks to complete.

After that, when the application for the exemption of provisional service has been approved, I have to fill in and complete the form SPA 8 and get a letter form them. Then, with both letters (certificate of exemption from provisional service and SPA letter), I have to fill another form and send it.

Finally, a certificate will be issued and it will be used to apply for full registration of pharmacy in Malaysia. Only after all these, a certificate will be granted with notice requiring me to serve for the government of not more than 3 years.

Oh ya, another thing is that I have to sit for the forensic exam in November which is basically about the Dangerous Drug Act in Malaysia. Everyone has to do this to work in Malaysia.

Now, at a moment like this, I have to take care of my sister’s basset hound which is extremely naughty and stubborn as she is busy preparing for her upcoming wedding. I just have to give him a sleeping pill so that he (the puppy) will sleep and won’t be a trouble.

LG KM900 Arena

July 26, 2009 4 comments

A week ago, I bought a new phone, LG KM900, also known as LG Arena. The first time I saw this phone was when I was loitering inside the Bridges shopping mall after my pre-reg exam as I was overly free.

I can’t remember how but somehow I entered the T-mobile shop and then I saw this LG Arena phone. As I had never heard of this name, my first impression on the phone was ‘well must be another crappy phone’. I’ve never impressed with the LG phone since I got my previous LG Viewty which turned out to be a total crap phone. LG has disappointed me.

It has been quite a while since I’d outcasted myself from the phone industry. Probably due to my pre-reg exam a month ago that I didn’t pay any attention to latest phones in the market. That’s why I didn’t know anything about this phone.

Then, I started to play with this LG Arena and I found it was actually very good. To my surprise, it has a very good camera lens which can take better picture with my current Sony Ericsson C905. For your information, those who’ve never use Sony Ericsson C905, SE C905 has very bad video camera despite having 8.1MP. It is indeed that the SE C905 has quite a good camera but I really don’t understand why the video camera is such a punk.

I was getting interested with the phone, so I did my research and ask my friend’s opinion about current mobile phone technology. To my delight, LG had improved its mobile phone technology and it’s claimed that LG Arena is one of the best camera phones out there.

The design is nice but not too great as it is square shaped like iphone. Not my taste; I would prefer something looks more futuristic. However the metallic frame of the phone gives the phone some rigidity compared to some phone made of plastic. This gives you a pleasant sensation of using it.

Ok, let’s get to its specifications. The LG Arena has the same touch screen technology as the famous iphone. Unlike the predecessor LG Viewty, which uses the resistive TFT touch screen (touch sensitivity based on the pressure on the screen), this LG Arena is equipped with capacitive TFT touch screen which detects your touch based on the electric pulse in your finger. Therefore, a very firm and gentle touch will do the work. Just like iphone. For those who don’t know, this is why stylus pen is not provided together with iphone as it will be useless.

The display is in 3.0 inches (smaller compared to iphone which is 3.5 inches), 480×800 pixels with 16M color. Believe me; the graphic is so stunning that it will make you say ‘wah’. However, the main advantage of this is that it has poor sunlight legibility due to the TFT screen, just like some laptop screen that has poor visibility under the sunlight. If LG has improved this part, it would be perfect phone.

I didn’t notice until I get the phone that it has an internal memory of 8GB and it still has card slot for external memory which can support up to 32GB. Just how many pictures can it stored? My Canon SLR only uses 2GB memory card.

Apart from that, the speakerphone is in Dolby mobile enhancement which provides great music, great for watching movie through the phone as well.

It has 5MP for the camera with Schneider-Kreuznach optics, 2592х1944 pixels, and LED flash. For the video camera, it can capture 720×480 @ 30fps which able to record very clear video clip.

The hardware graphic acceleration is essential; everything from homescreen to dropdown menus roll, sweep in, unfold and revolve extra smoothly. A new and eye catching addition to the interface is the Cube interface – the four homescreens are placed on the sides of a cube that you roll by finger sweeps. You can zoom out by pressing the center Home key and roll the cube to select a homescreen.

Another nice addition on LG Arena are the multi-touch support which gives you the ability to zoom a picture with the pinching gesture and the in-built FM transmitter, allowing you to stream wirelessly the currently playing track to any standard FM radio receiver (e.g. car audio or home multimedia system).

Well, if you are looking for an iphone but good camera and has the ability to record video, then LG Arena is your answer. However it is not that the phone is perfect. It does have some disadvantages as well depending on your preference. It is the perfect phone for me as I am looking for an advanced phone that can take great pictures and most importantly, clear and nice video as my SLR camera cannot record video. Somemore, I can’t expect to bring my big SLR camera to everywhere I go, right?
